Over 100 volunteers came out to Nova Vita Salon & Spa in support of the "Blanket Sewcial" event benefiting CHOC. Volunteers of all ages donated their time to cut, sew and bag colorful fleece blankets that will be donated to the CHOC Outpatient Infusion Center in Orange to patients receiving treatments for chronic illnesses. Thanks to the outpouring of support, we were able to double the amount of blankets we anticipated producing! In addition to the cozy blanket stations, there were 3 children's sections (that adults had a blast with too!) set-up to create Friendship Cards, along with Dog Beds & Dog Toys. The Friendship Cards get tucked into the blankets that are donated, while the Dog Beds and Dog Toys get donated to animal shelters or can be purchased at the Joyful Foundation where 100% of the proceeds go to materials needed to create the blankets. These seperate children's sections were inspired by the desire to reduce waste. The materials used to create the Dog Toys & Dog Beds are all recycled scraps from the blankets that are created (except for the pillow cases that are donated to create the casing for the Dog Beds.) The event was a true success on every level and the benefits from it will put smiles on many faces. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers!
